Jammu, Jul 16 (KNO): Jammu Tawi Railway Station has expanded its operational capacity with the opening of Platforms 4, 5, 6 and 7 for passenger and train operations, taking the total number of functional platforms at the station to seven from the earlier three. According to details obtained by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the newly constructed Platforms 6 and 7 have been commissioned under the station redevelopment project, while Platforms 4 and 5 have also been restored for regular operations. Train No. 12413 became the first train to be received at the newly built Platform 6. According to Northern Railway's Jammu Division, the additional platforms will significantly enhance the station's capacity to handle simultaneous train arrivals and departures, ensuring smoother train movement, reduced halting time and improved passenger convenience. The move is also expected to ease congestion at the station amid growing rail traffic. The railway authorities said the enhanced infrastructure would improve connectivity for passengers travelling to and from Jammu and Kashmir while supporting future growth in rail operations Passengers have been advised to check train schedules and platform information through station announcements and display boards, and to use the foot overbridges and designated pathways to access the newly operational platforms. Railway officials urged passengers to follow instructions issued by railway staff for safe and smooth movement within the station—(KNO)
